How MoonCal collects, uses, and protects your personal data, the third-party services we rely on, and the rights you have over your information.
Effective date: 2026-05-20
MoonCal ("we", "us") helps you turn lunar dates such as birthdays, anniversaries, and festivals into calendar subscriptions you can read in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, and other apps. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how you can control it. We collect only what is needed to run the service.
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Account information | Your email address and a securely hashed password, managed by our authentication provider. We never store your password in plain text. |
| Content you create | Calendars (name, description, time zone, language preference) and events (title, notes, type such as birthday or anniversary, lunar or solar date, and optional birth year used to label ages). These are stored so we can generate your calendar subscriptions. |
| Feedback you send | When you submit feedback we collect your email address, your message, the page URL you sent it from, your browser locale, and your browser user-agent string to help us reproduce issues. |
| Automatically collected | Aggregated, privacy-friendly usage analytics (page views, interactions) and performance metrics collected through our analytics and performance-monitoring providers. |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We use trusted service providers to operate MoonCal, including hosting, database storage, authentication, usage analytics, performance monitoring, and operational notifications. These providers process only the limited personal data necessary to provide their services to us, and may not use it for third-party advertising.
If you would like the current list of our service providers, contact us via the feedback entry at the bottom of the page.
We use cookies only to keep you signed in (authentication session). Analytics are collected without tracking cookies that identify you personally. We do not use advertising cookies.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete a calendar it is first soft-deleted, then permanently removed after 90 days. You can delete your calendars at any time in the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us via the feedback entry at the bottom of the page.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU GDPR or China’s PIPL), you may have additional rights. We honor these requests regardless of your location.
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date shown on this page.
